Homestay accommodation for international students is available during exeats and holidays when your son or daughter is not able to return home.
HEGS staff personally recruit Homestay Families and ensure that all providers have had DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checks, that their homes are of a high standard and are safe and warm. Homes will be as close as possible to your son or daughter's school.
HEGS staff monitor the Home Stay accommodation and have built excellent relationships with providers. They keep in regular contact and exchange information with regards to any concerns they may have about the young people placed in their care.
Recruited families enjoy the company of young people from different countries. They spend time helping them to develop their English language skills and their knowledge of British culture, and encourage them to take part in safe activities and visits.
If your son or daughter is ill during an exeat or holiday the Homestay Family will arrange for them to see a doctor, and inform HEGS staff as soon as possible.
Your son or daughter will be asked to give feedback on their home stay visits to ensure they are settled and happy with the family.
HEGS staff are happy to make arrangements for your son or daughter to be welcomed at the airport and taken to school.
Please give at least 3 clear working days if your son or daughter requires this service.
If your son or daughter arrives in the UK before the date he or she is able to start at school, HEGS staff can arrange overnight accommodation with a Home Stay Family, and the transfer to school.
We arrange transport for exeats and holidays, and transfers from school to the airport if required. We wait with your son or daughter until they go into the departure lounge, and can wait until the flight has taken off, if you request this service.
Where possible we arrange for students to travel in groups to share the transport cost. We avoid long waits at the airport as this is exhausting, particularly on arrrival after a long flight.
